Overview
The following 7 galleries represent Mona Serageldin’s analog slide collection on upgrading older neighborhoods and urban infrastructure, as arranged in box M10, “China, France, St. Denis,” consisting of color photographs and charts for presentation slides.
This selection of photographs show urban landscapes, new and old housing, and commercial areas in cities in eastern China and southern France. Graphics on either region show planning maps for upgrading projects and charts and graphs showing financial and social changes.
Galleries 1-5 cover eastern China, while Galleries 6-7 cover Montpellier, France.

Photographs of Shanghai, China from 1999 through 2004. The gallery shows images of Pudong, a district of Shanghai, including city models of residential blocks and high-rise buildings. The gallery also covers Puxi, the historic center of Shanghai, and documents the Bund district, Nanjing Road and pedestrians, an old French quarter, and older residential and commercial neighborhoods slated for demolition. Views include streetscapes, details and overviews of buildings, and some graphics.
