South Africa and Mauritania
1998-1999
7 galleries of digitized film slides covering municipal infrastructure programs in South Africa and Mauritania
Overview
The following 7 galleries represent Mona Serageldin’s analog 35mm slide collection on housing and infrastructure programs, as arranged in slide case M16: “South Africa, MIP Selection, Mauritania,” consisting of color photographs and charts for presentation slides.
The collection documents municipal infrastructure initiatives and housing conditions in South Africa and Mauritania from 1998-1999. The photographs document field visits and site overviews as part of I2UD’s evaluation of grant-funded programs and urban upgrading strategies for those locations in the late 1990s. They show community facilities, new and old housing, and infrastructure access.
Galleries 1-7 cover towns and cities in provinces across South Africa, while Gallery 8 covers Nouakchott, Mauritania.
